Annual subscription fees are payable from 1 October:

£10.00 per person (2021/2022 season)

Entrance to meetings is free to members; non-members may attend at £2.00 per lecture.

Proposed Excusions for 2021:

A visit to Shelvington Farmhouse, Hoath, near Canterbury. Cost £12 per person; afternoon tea is included (£2) and £10 will go to charity.

The Bronze Age Boat, Dover Museum. 2.30pm. Cost £10 per person; afternoon tea is included.

Churches of Romney Marsh

Saturday May 23rd 2018

A coach trip to visit some of the churches on Romney Marsh will be on Wednesday May 23rd, led by David Carder. This will be an all-day excursion, and the cost will be in the region of £20 to £24.

Dymchurch Martello Tower

Saturday 10th February 2018

Guided tour of Dymchurch Martello Tower on Saturday 10th February 2018 at 11am, by members' cars. Lunch at the Ocean Inn followed by a visit to the Heritage Room in Dymchurch at 1.30pm. Entry, donation.

Tudeley Church and Ightham Mote

21st June 2017

26 members of WHS went by coach to Tudeley Church to see the stained glass windows by Marc Chagall, and then on to Ightham Mote, which was hosting a display of two of John Singer Sargent's pictures.

Down House

Wednesday 4th May 2016

The coach will cost approx. £17, with a £10 deposit needed to secure your booking. Entrance to the house is free if you are an English Heritage member. Lunch will be at the George and Dragon pub in Downe. The tour of Down House will start at 2pm.

Restoration House, Rochester

Travel by members' cars. In the morning there will be a trip to the Huguenot museum and in the afternoon a guided tour of Restoration House, which is £10 including guide book.

Historic walk around Folkestone

Historic walk around Folkestone with Ian Coulson. Meet at St Mary and Eanswith Church, Folkestone at 10am. Coffee at 11am, finishing approximately 12.30pm. Members' cars.

Bayham Old Abbey and Battle Abbey

Bayham Old Abbey and Battle Abbey by coach. Lunch in Battle (payable separately). Coach travel approximately £20 and entrance is £11 or free for English Heritage members.

Eltham Palace

Wednesday 3rd July 2013

To Eltham Palace by coach, leaving at approximately 9am.

This is an English Heritage property; there will be an admission charge of £8.40 for non-members of EH. The coach fare will be £12, for 40 participants.


Tuesday 23rd April 2013

To Maidstone by train, leaving from Wye station at 9.19am.

In the morning we shall have a guided tour of the town centre, led by WHS President, Ian Coulson. After lunch there will be a tour of Maidstone museum, followed by time to browse the museum at leisure.
